Who am I?
While enrolled in the American Sign Language Interpreting program at the University of Houston I learned about language, professionalism, and community engagement.

Resilience
The lotus flower symbolizes resilience and strength, as it can thrive and bloom even in the most trying conditions. Reflecting on this ability serves as encouragement for my personal development and confronting adversity.
Collaboration
Deaf collaboration looks like actively listening to Deaf people, staying engaged in Deaf culture, supporting Deaf associations, and continuing to identify my audist bias.

Always On
As an interpreter, my role is not just to facilitate language but to ensure I am meeting the communication needs of the consumer, which are not limited to the ASL because I learned to always be “on”.
What kind of interpreter will I become?
Lifelong Learner
My learning does not stop with my diploma. I will continue to satisfy my drive to explore and chase my professional ambitions, hopefully with the help of a Deaf mentor.

Mental Health
Everything impacts the interpreting process, I need a good mental space to be the best version of me. I cannot pour into others unless I am full.
Spirit of the Lion
By embracing the lion's spirit of bravery and courage, we can overcome obstacles with determination, unlock our true potential, and embrace the unknown with a fearless heart.
